The friendliest, most people-loving   tech guy you'll ever meet!

Distractions

Don’t let this happen to you!

gaming

I love games.

AND… I’m still struggling a bit with keeping them in perspective. A little time off for R&R, letting off steam, and killing bad guys is great.

Just be aware of what you’re trading your time for.

Thinking vs. Creating

Once there was a person that had amazing ideas, fantastic flights of fancy, creative whims, and invented wondrous things but kept them all locked up inside.

And there was a sibling that had some interesting ideas, not sensational or wildly creative necessarily, but workable. The difference is that the sibling spoke about the ideas, wrote them down, and shared them with others. The ideas grew and people began to make them into reality.

And the world was changed.

Thinking about great things is wonderful, but essentially useless until they are spoken out into the world and action is taken.

So, don’t wait for the Perfect Idea. Don’t wait until everything is ready. Go out now and Create something. Others will help you improve it, build it, distribute it, whatever needs to be done.

Circumstances are quite rarely perfect. Start now; where you are, with what you have and create something for you, your family, and for the world!

You don’t have to get it perfect. You just have to get IT started!

You already know

“What do I want to do with my life?”

It’s a really common question that I hear. And, people ask it as if someone else knows the answer. That perhaps it’s “out there” somewhere.

Well, I am here to tell you, my friend…. You already know.

It might not be on the tip of your tongue and you may even be frustrated because you’ve been looking for sooo long, and taking so many quizzes, and asking so many people. But, who else could possibly know what You want to do with Your life?

That’s like asking someone else how You should feel about them. It’s kind of nuts, really.

The truth is that only You can answer what’s right for you. And, the funny thing is that it’s not like a big secret or hidden away somewhere.

What you should do is what you’re good at and not necessarily what you’re good at because you’ve done it for 10 years and you hate it. No, what you should do is what you’re just great at and what you really enjoy doing.

Don’t get caught up on the “How can I make money doing that?” Please, let’s leave the How until later. For know let’s just get to the What.

Ever hear of the Thirsty Traveller? Here’s a guy that wanted to do only two things. He wanted to see the world (Don’t we all?) and he loved beer. He’s now the host of a show called the Thirsty Traveller, where all he does is visit various cities around the world sampling their fine lagers and ales. Can’t make money doing what you love… look at that guy!

So, take a little time and write down literally every skill you have, every talent, ability, or just plain Thing You Like To Do.

And then put them in order; favorite at the top, least favorite at the bottom. Don’t get hung up on the ordering. If you are struggling with putting “Painting on Eggs” higher than “Clog Dancing,” take a moment, don’t struggle. Really, which one do you like more? It’s not hard and it is OK if they are somewhat out of order. (Nobody is going to grade you!)

See those top 5 things? I bet that some combination of 2-4 of them would make you joyous and excited about everyday.

Can you find some way to make sure at least of them get worked in Every Day? Would that be great for you?

And now, what if you could wake up everyday knowing that today you get to play at a few of your top favorite things in the world.

And Now… what if you could do 2-4 of your favorite things in the world everyday… and get paid for it? And paid well. No starving artists here.

People that love what they do and put their love and energy into it are well rewarded. Others recognize the spark, the joy, the energy that goes into something done well and passionately.

So, trust me. You already know.

Just ask yourself.

Limitations

The only things that can sway me off course or halt me in my tracks are the limitations of my own mind.

The only way to fail is to quit.

How much will a tree grow? Always, as much as it can. It knows no internal limits. Of course, things happen; they get cut back or something looms over them. What do they do? Say, “Poor me” and die? No, they change angles and keep on growing.

A baby learning to walk falls down 5 times in a row. Does he just say, “Forget about it. Walking sucks anyway?” (or do his parents put him in a crib and say, “He can’t do it. We’ll try again next year”?)

Most resistance is in your mind. Let it go. Just do what needs to be done to achieve your dreams!

The Inspiration Age

Are you prepared for the Inspiration Age?

The Industrial Age was about building more, faster, cheaper. Which is nice, but we end up with a lot of mass-produced, cheap… junk.
And they tried oh-so hard to advertise to us; to get us to buy it all.
The Information Age was about knowing more, always learning more… computers, and technology. Awesome, but ultimately we end up talking and interacting with our machines more than people. All of these programs that are built to streamline our lives and make things easier end up taking up all of our time.
There are online communities, squeeze pages, and social media. Now the sales pitch comes in a “Let’s be friends. You’ll like me (“me” = this persona that I’ve created online), so you’ll buy from me” model.
The Inspiration Age is here! This is an age of inspiration and investment. If you want to sell to people, you need to show them a vision of how life will be when they step into that future. And the other part is about investment. The old models were about parting you and your money. The new model shows purchases as an investment in the future.

Marketing and sales will need to change. Less “Ain’t we great” and “New and Improved!” More transparency. Authenticity. Be real and provide value.

So, if you are selling something (even more importantly if you are selling a service) be real, authentic, and show yourself as you are. Be less concerned about politically correct or trying to apppeal to some generic customer. You are making up how you think “the masses” are going to react to you.

You’ll never appeal to everyone anyway, so get yourself deeply connected with those that will resonate with you.

Be you, out loud, as much as possible.

In business and in your life.

A coach

Then we help them design their place in the world so that the environment pulls them toward the vision of who they wish to become.

Welcome the Challenges

A strong desire is a great attractor.
It attracts both challenge and support

Having a money challenge is just a push, an incentive, to create what you want. “Thank you, money challenge!”
All the growth comes out of the challlenge
The challenge ultimately serves you more than the support.
It’s who you become in overcoming those challenges that matters.

“Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.” – Joseph Campbell

Using Twitter

This is a great little video about using Twitter. It’s basic, but sometimes you gotta start at the beginning!
