This is a list of all the things that I recommend to coaches getting started online.
Web hosting. A theme. Email marketing tools. Education.
DreamHost – Great web host
If you want to give them a try, I have a special promo code for you. When using it, you will save $25! Here’s the promo code: GETITSTARTED
or
HostGator - I have a bunch of sites here. Easiest setup for everything.
WooThemes – I love Canvas. It’s a great minimalist theme that is crazily customizable. An they have dozens or other really great themes to browse and use.
Thesis Theme for WordPress - Most popular theme amongst professional bloggers. Easy to change most bits of layout and design. Great SEO features.
Aweber Email Marketing - Best choice for newsletters, broadcasting your blog, and for managing your (IMPORTANT!) list of clients and future clients. 1 month free and then just $19/Month.
Great references for learning marketing and Search Engine Optimization.
Johnny B Truant - Risky of me to offer his stuff, because he sets up sites too. But, it’s a great resource for getting baseline on all the things you need to do to get started. Buy his book, but come back to me for training and coaching. His style is funny, but I can see how it would turn off a lot of coaches.
IttyBiz: Marketing 101 - Naomi Dunford at IttyBiz is awesome at marketing! (I wrote that a couple of times elsewhere on my blog.) You should purchase at least one of her offerings to help you figure out how to market online. She has a potty mouth, but really shoots straight. Great advice! This is the basics.
IttyBiz: Marketing School - This is the more in-depth teaching about marketing online. Great stuff! Did I mention that she’s really coach-friendly?
IttyBiz: SEO School - All you will ever need to know about SEO. As a coach, you’re probably not going to be using AdWords or Pay-Per-Click. But, you do want people to be able to find you!
The New Marketing and product creation and launching
